Australian Institute of Conveyancing 2018 State Conference in August
Clarity Conveyancing headed to Perth for the Australian Institute of Conveyancing 2018 State Conference in August.
This was a great conference, which had a lot of really useful workshops and talks about what’s happening in the industry.
One of the big focuses was cyber crime, and how important it is to ensure password security when you’re dealing with something as big as property.
Buyer Beware
Settlement agents are coming up against phishing emails on a day to day basis, with scammers pretending to be people they’re not. To deal with this threat, we as an industry are implementing strategies to stop these scams from happening – protecting our business is part of protecting our clients.
One of the simplest things we can all do in our day to day dealings, to stay safe, is ensure passwords are secret, not easily accessible either digitally or on paper, and potentially, to invest in password protection software.
Over the last 5 years our industry has implemented strict legislative requirements to protect both sellers representative and buyers. One of these measures is the ID verification that is a part of the settlement process.
With our industry working towards electronic conveyancing, we need to do everything in our power to ensure cyber security is our number one priority.
